It is correct, that 100% will be paid before the goods arrive in your warehouse. That is common practise in international business.
Often, the seller even demand to have the balance payment before the goods are loaded on the ship!
DDP mean “Delivered Duty Paid”, so duty/tax, transportation, harbour costs, insurance etc. is the responsibility of the seller.
That also means, that it is the responsibility of the seller in case that the ship sinks or the container is lost.
Before shipment we will forward to you a quality report incl. photos of the xxxxx and packing and even of the container being loaded.
When the container is onboard the ship, a B/L (Bill off Lading) is issued by the shipping company and handed over to the shipper.
A copy of that will along with packing list be forwarded to you as proof on that shipment has taken place.
An empty container is not an issue to discuss, since the packing lists are checked by both the VN customs and the shipping line.
Like your advisor, we are also a bit suspicious and we are not willing to take the risk not getting 100% paid before the goods are handed over to you.
In case that the procedures described above are not enough security for you, you are free to inspect the goods before it is shipped out .
